Microsoft Windows Hyper V Vmms 16010
Microsoft released a for when the Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management Service (VMMS) fails and event ID 14050 is logged after dynamicportrange is changed in Windows Server 2012. Note that the VMMS is a service that runs in the Management OS of a Hyper-V host and provides the WMI API to manage Hyper-V and the VMs running on that host. Symptoms Assume that you have a computer that is running Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V installed. If you try to manage the Hyper-V hosts either by using System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or remotely by using Hyper-V Manager, the attempt fails. Additionally, an event may be logged in the event log that resembles the following.
Number of Ports: 16384 This problem may also occur if the NTDS port has been restricted to a specific port on your domain controllers. If this selected NTDS port is not within the default ranges, you must add this port by running the script in the 'Resolution' section on every Hyper-V host. For more information, click the following article number to go to the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: Resolution Run the script from the original on each affected host. This script adds a custom port range to enable Vmms.exe to communicate over an additional port range of 9000 to 9999. This blog serves 2 purposes. Firstly, I want to share information with other IT pros about the technologies we work with and how to solve problems we often face.
I've worked with technologies from the desktop to the server, Active Directory, System Center, security and virtualisation. Secondly, I use my blog as a notebook. There's so much to learn and remember in our jobs that it's impossible to keep up. By blogging, I have a notebook that I can access from anywhere. It has saved my proverbial many times in the past.
Hi Partner, Thanks for posting in our community. This is Cici and I am glad to assist you with the post. From your description, I understand that Windows Server 2012 R2 standard gets the event 14050 which indicates failed to register the service principal name 'Hyper-V Replica Service' 3 times every 2-4 minutes. If anything is misunderstood, please feel free to let me know. Based on my research, generally speaking, Kerberos authentication is not possible for services without properly set Service Principal Names (SPNs).
• You have not passed the exam in question. • You purchased FASTrack directly from RMC. • Your license has not been shared or violated in any way. • The software for that exam type is still sold by RMC, either in CD/Downloadable or Cloud format, and your license is within 1 major version release of the currently sold software.

SPNs are unique identifiers for services running on servers. Each service that uses Kerberos authentication needs to have an SPN set for it so that clients can identify the service on the network. It is registered in Active Directory under a user account as an attribute called Service-Principal-Name. The SPN is assigned to the account under which the service the SPN identifies is running. Any service can look up the SPN for another service. When a service wants to authenticate to another service, it uses that service’s SPN to differentiate it from other services running on that computer. In general, only one SPN should be set for each service.
Multiple SPNs can cause clients to connect to the wrong system or the ticket may be encrypted with the wrong key. At such situation, we recommend you to use the following method to restart VMMS and check if it persists: Vmms.exe (by default in the%windows% system32 directory) is the service that uses the MsvmVirtualSystemManagementService WMI object to perform Virtual System Management related operations in Hyper-V and the Hyper-V Manager. A number of different settings and actions on virtual machines may cause the VMMS to timeout or shutdown. Ensure a connection to a Domain Controller, and then restart the Virtual Machine Management Service (VMMS). To restart VMMS using the Service Manager: 1. In the Hyper-V Manager click the server on which you want to stop the service, then click Action, then click Stop Service. Click Action, and then click Start Service.

Thanks for your cooperation. Hi Partner, Thanks for your reply. Based on my research, if we have restarted VMMS, we recommend you to run the following script one time on each affected Hyper-V host. This script adds a custom port range to enable Vmms.exe to communicate over an additional port range of 9000 to 9999. The script can be modified as necessary.
To configure a script to add the custom port range, follow these steps:. Start a text editor, such as Notepad. Copy the following code, and then paste the code into the text file. 'This VBScript adds a port range from 9000 to 9999 for outgoing traffic 'run as cscript addportrange.vbs on the hyper-v host option explicit 'IP protocols const NETFWIPPROTOCOLTCP = 6 const NETFWIPPROTOCOLUDP = 17 'Action const NETFWACTIONBLOCK = 0 const NETFWACTIONALLOW = 1 'Direction const NETFWRULEDIRIN = 1 const NETFWRULEDIROUT = 2 'Create the FwPolicy2 object. Dim fwPolicy2 Set fwPolicy2 = CreateObject('HNetCfg.FwPolicy2') 'Get the Service Restriction object for the local firewall policy.
Hi Partner, I am just writing to see if this issue has any update. Also, for the problem, is there any other assistance we could provide?
