Thank goodness the web-browser version still works as I need it for work, but has anyone had this issue and/or found a workaround? Is this merely a compatibility issue where Skype simply hasn't been updated to be functional with High Sierra. Hello CarpeDiem1924, Welcome to Skype Community! We truly understand how important this is for you. Please do provide us the version of Skype on your Mac OS High Sierra. To isolate the issue,. Check the firewall settings on your Mac, following the steps below 1.
From the Apple menu, select System Preferences. Select Security & Privacy. Click the Firewall tab.
Click the lock icon and authenticate with your administrator username and password. The firewall turn on - you'll known it's enabled when you see the green light and the Firewall: On message. Click Advanced. Select the Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections checkbox. This allows the applications on your Mac to communicate with the outside world.
Select the Enable stealth mode checkbox. This prevents your Mac from responding to port scans and ping requests.
Click OK to close the Advanced settings. Close System Preferences. Your Mac is now protected by the built-in firewall.

The version of Skype is the latest version currently available from Microsoft which I believe is version 6.19. Before I posted my initial problem, I had already tried to uninstall and reinstall Skype. Also, your provided instructions are not for MacOS 10.13 High Sierra as evidenced by Step #5 as there is no 'Start' button, instead there is a 'Turn Firewall ON' button. Next, clicking 'Advanced' does NOT provide any of the options you describe. The closest thing I can come to is beneath the 'Firewall Options' menu and the 'Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections' checkbox is not an option.

I tried enabling stealth mode anyway to no avail. Skype still does not function. I would highly recommend you try out your instructions on the appropriate operating system before blindly copying and pasting from a reference manual.
You might find better luck. Forget all the microsoft bull.the reason skype doesn't work on mac sierra or high sierra is JAVASCRIPT. One presumes Microsoft is aware of this in regard to Mac users One presumes Apple knows this in regard to Java We're screwed folks.anything that depends on Java or javascript (LibreOffice, OpenOffice, Skype) won't run properly Javascript doesn't load anymore in Mac - at least not in the full way it used to. Skype 7.59 (37) works fine (i.e. As well as normal) on High Sierra for me (MacBook Air mid-2012). Skype 7.58 worked on Sierra, but not after upgrading to High Sierra (dead microphone and camera - although an external USB headset microphone did work OK). LibreOffice 5.4.3.2 works perfectly well on High Sierra too.
For the past 2 months, i have been trying to figure out how Skype would work properly on my Macbook pro. I have tried several tips and tricks posted over the internet, but so far none of it works. Listed below are some of the solutions i tried but didn't work for my lapotop:. Rebooting Skype and my Laptop. Uninstall and Re-install Skype. Downgrade or Upgrade Skype.
Update for the Newest Version of Skype for Mac. Check the Internet Connection/ Have better internet connection. Adjust and Check Preferences in both Mac and Skype. Asked from the apple support regarding the app (skype) support and OS compatibilty. I noticed some differences between my gadgets.
Here are my lists:. The latest updates for OS and Skype works on iPhones, iPads, Androids, and Windows. Calls (Audio and Video) works properly and doesn't drop after 10 seconds.
Connection is really stable and fast. Audio is clear. Echo Test Call works. The latest update for Mac OS and Skype does NOT work on my Macbook Pro Retina (OS Sierra).
Calls (Audio and Video) drops after 10 seconds. Connection is not stable. No Audio just the sound effects for the Skype app itself. Echo Test Call does not work (no one is talking, no recording).Could there be any problem with my OS or is it just because the app (Skype) itself is still figuring out the bug issues and updates for OS Sierra? If i haven't done the right solution yet please let me know, because I really need to use Skype instead of FaceTime, Viber, and the like. Thank You in Advance Skype Community! Hello May I know what version of Mac are you using?
Skype will work on Mac OS X 10.9 or higher. If your system does not meet the requirements to run Skype, we suggest you to sign in on a supported device. On this you will see the list of unsupported devices. Unsupported Skype enabled devices, and platforms may experience problems with calls and chats, lost or dropped calls and instant messages, or could stop working completely. Please use this as a reference. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to reply to this post. Hi, I am having an issue only with my Mac mini (running macOS Sierra 10.12.6) and with my wife's iMac (running macOS High Sierra 10.13.0). The Echo 123 test call does not go to the record a message activity and it hangs up after 9 to 10 seconds.
When I access Skype on my iPhone, iPad or Surface Pro 4, I have no issues with completing the Echo123 test call and recording and playing back a message. I have verified that my Wi-Fi and network within the house are okay since Skype works with my other devices. I would like to know if there is any other action to be taken on macOS since we usually try to use either the iMac or Mac mini for Skype calls (at least we did until this the drop call issue started). This has been an ongoing concern for a couple of months now. Cheers, Richard Bracken. Is anyone from Microsoft paying attention to these posts on the issue with Mac computers?
I have just uninstalled and cleaned Skype off of my Mac mini for the third time and so far have seen the same result. I cannot make a Skype call to other Skype users, I cannot use the Test call to make an audio recording and I have also tested this with an iMac. As I noted above, I have no issue with the iPad, iPhone or Windows Surface Pro running Skype to make and receive calls. I do get one new message now that says my Internet connection is too weak to support a call when I use the Mac mini however I do not get any such call with m other devices. It would really be appreciated, if this could be sorted out as I know other Mac users who are having the same issue.
Hi, If you run a antivirus on your mac as I do (nod32) go to firewall and let Skype have full control of net, make a new rule, this is what fixed my calls dropping out after 10 sec, The latest version of Skype does not work on High Sierra, I have tried everything and keep getting a message saying internet speed to slow, my internet speed is 100mb Down and 50mb upload so it is not my internet, I installed Version 7.58 (501) for mac and it works great, disabled auto update as well. Also running a Mac Book Pro 16gb ram, 1TB SSD, Retina Display.
