Tyt Uvf1 Software

Posted on by admin

Jun 12, 2011 a few older model version TYT UVF1 radios abroad and locally have lockout bands or frequencies.

I have been trying for 3 days now to get the software for the TYT TH-UVF1 handheld to work in my Windows XP machine. Everytime I attempt to download or upload from the transceiver I get a communications port error that it timed out and closed the port.

I know the ports are set correctly. Is there something I am missing on the radio setup to allow the software to work with this thing. I like the radio as I can program it manually but would be much nicer to do it from the pc. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks, Bill WA3DOG. Click to expand.TYT Electronics Co., Ltd. Address: Block 39-1, Optoelectronics-information industry base, Nan’an, quanzhou, Fujian (CHINA) Telelphone: 86-58 E-mail: Bill - Modern Amateur Radio mobile radios and hand-held radios (HTs) are micro-processor controlled.

The digital signals from these processors and support ICs operate at TTL levels (voltages of 5, 3.3, or 1.67 Volts). In order for these radios to 'talk' to your personal computer - an interface cable is required. The interface cable is important, because: 1. Provides isolation and protection for your HT internal microprocessors and components from your computer or external voltages/signals. Converts these low voltage levels of the serial data lines to either an RS-232 (DE-9 connector) or Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection for your computer. The key component in these interface cable is the RS-232 Level Converter, such as the Maxim's MAX-232 or USB to UART Bridge IC, such as those from FTDI (UK/EU), Silicon Labs (US), or Prolific (Taiwan).

Are you using a USB interface cable? Does this interface cable use Prolific PL-2303 USB chips?? Chinese and Eastrern Asian radio manufacturers prefer to use interface cables with the Prolific (Taiwan mfg.) USB chips since the company is in the same region and heavily promotes their chipsets in that region. NOTE: Prolific has announced in December 2011 that counterfeit Prolific chips have been produced in China (mainland) - and used in interface cables from China. These BAD cables exhibit the problems you are reporting.

These chips look IDENTICAL - but are not operational. Prolific is not an END USER cable manufacturer (they are an OEM chip mfg.) - and ONLY recommends TWO cable manufacturers in Taiwan.

READ HERE: CONTACT the Vendor or Dealer where you purchased this cable for resolution or refund, as required. When I purchased this rig all the necessary cables and software were in the box. I believe the cable is a Prolific USB interface. It is recognized by my PC and drivers load for it. I think that I should use the drivers on the CD rather than letting Windows install the driver. Not sure about this but i will try it.

I have emailed the company but they don't answer their emails. Support from them stinks so far.

The only markings on the USB interface cable is 'USB-02 Cable Programming'. And seeing that the cable was in the origional box with the rig, I am going to guess that it is not a pirated cable but the correct one to use. I have checked the web site you showed and I cant see anything about the cable I am using that came with the rig. I have learned how to program this thing manually and have 6 frequencies programmed. The reason for purchasing this rig was it's dual band capability and I have read good reviews about it and it does work very nicely. Here is my setup information: Using a Dell Inspiron 1200 laptop with Windows XP Home with Service Pack 3 The UVF-1 is plugged into a hub on COM 1 and in the software is assigned to COM 6.

It does not matter if I have the USB cable directly plugged into a USB port on the PC or the hub, I still get the same error in that it cannot open the COM port and shuts down any attempt at communicating. I am lost except for uninstalling the windows driver and reinstalling the driver that came with the mini CD.

That will be today. Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.

TH-UVF1 software I uninstalled the driver and reloaded it. From what I have read, this device will only work on COMM 1-4. In the device manager I assigned it to COMM1. After opening the program and trying to transfer the radio data to the PC. I no longer receive the errors and the system says it is transfering blocks. I only have 6 channels programmed in this thing but it is taking a long time to transfer the information if it is doing it at all. When I look in SYSTEM and the processes running I have only 2 processes, one which is the UVF1 program.

It does show some CPU useage but I have no idea as to how long this download will take. If it does download at all. It has been running for 20 minutes now and still no data is showing on the PC screen.??????? There is a definite sequence to this radio and it's software. You must first load the drivers, then shut down your computer.

Restart your computer and plug in the cable. In Windows go to ADD NEW Hardware Wizard and go through the wizard to load the drivers to the cable. Shut down your PC. Restart your PC and then load the correct software for the radio. Shut down your PC and restart. Open the program and set the correct com port. You find the com port for the cable in Device Manager and clicking on COM/LPT ports.

This will show a Prolific USB cable. The software must be assigned in the SETUP to the same com port and it must be com 1 to 4. No other com port will work for some reason.

Now, plug in your radio and turn it on. You should now be able to communicate with the radio. The plugging in of the radio sequence must be followed all the time or the software will not work correctly. When it is working correctly, the green light on the top of the radio will flash red as you are transferring data. This took me many hours of researching the web and installing/uninstalling all software until I finally got it to work. For those of you that have this rig, here are the steps required to use the programming software. If you have attempted to install the software, remove all traces of it.

This includes in the registry. Shut down your PC. Not a restart, but a total shut down. Restart your PC.

From the supplied mini disk, load the drivers for your operating system. Shut down your PC and restart it. Plug in the USB cable and use the FOUND NEW HARDWARE Wizard to load the drivers for the cable. Shut down and restart your PC. Load the software program for your specific radio. Once loaded, shut down and restart your PC.

Click on the Desktop ICON and open the program. When the software opens, go to the SETUP tab and set the com port to match that of the cable. If you do not know what com port the cable is on, go to SYSTEM and DEVICE MANAGER. Look under PORTS (COM & LPT). Find the Prolific cable and right click properties. Click ADVANCED and you will see the com port assigned.

It must be on COM 1 through 4 or it will not work. Once you have the correct COM port assigned in the program, plug in the cable to the radio and turn on the radio. You should now be able to upload/download all the settings.
